New Council offices, customer service centre and library

The new landmark 'green' riverside building will provide open plan office accommodation for around 2,000 staff from the council and its partner organisations. It will also include a ‘one-stop’ customer service centre and a new public library.

Designed to be amongst the most sustainable buildings around, it will bring together staff from 33 buildings.

The current Smith Street Municipal Offices and Telegraph House will be demolished along with the bus station, making way for a multi-million pound retail and leisure development. The building will be opposite the new transport interchange and the proposed Metrolink stop.
